  • It Has Begun

Now that end of year standardized testing is underway for the kids at school, the teachers are rapidly planning what to do with them for the remainder of the school year. Here’s what’s coming up for our son’s class starting next week.
    Take Off Your Shoes Day
    Stuffed Animal Day
    Wacky Clothes Day
    Movie Day
    Crazy Hair Day
    Sunglasses Day
    Karaoke Day
    Board Game Day
    Water Balloon Day
    Beach Towel Day
    Bubbles Day
    Board Game Day
Picnic Day (including popsicles and another movie)
    Drink a Soda Day
Shopping Day (for trinkets from dollar stores, etc., in classroom)
SIGH. Sounds like a lot of things for mom to keep track of, does it not? The food requests haven’t begun yet….but they are coming.

  • They really need to drink a soda?  and have a whole DAY for it?!

  • What. The. Crap.

Seriously, no one punches anyone in the face over this?

  • EVERY day is Take Off Your Shoes Day at my daughter’s school.  Yesterday, she had no shoes when we left campus.  There are FOUR pairs of her shoes missing on campus.  Today I’m not leaving until we scour the place & find at least one pair.  They don’t even have to match – just two shoes, one for each foot, and I’d be happy.

  • @DrTiff - They need to sip it really slowly and make it last the whole school day.  KIDDING. It’s probably combined with one of the other days – I split each theme apart into it’s own day for most dramatic effect. And you can always send a different drink, but it’s all about “popping the top,” so it better be in a can if you don’t want your kid mocked. (And you know I’m THAT mom that sends sparkling juice in a can or flavored seltzer in a can. Sometimes – if I remember to have those things on hand.)

As for the shoes – I have to laugh, because the note made a point of saying that they could only take off their shoes IN THE CLASSROOM and they would prefer them to wear socks. It’s a very structured day of “freedom.”
@madhousewife - Nope. No face slapping. And most people think it is just SO. MUCH. FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @madhousewife - @turningreen - It is just SO. MUCH. FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so happy I don’t have a first grader this year because we have the ABCs of First Grade, which includes Jump Rope Day, Flashlight Day, Game Day, Bubbles Day, Pajama and Pillow Day and other FUN DAYS LIKE THAT. Instead I have a kindergartner, and we are studiously practicing (daily) for a dance to “Call Me Maybe,” which is far far farrrrrrrrrr too hard for 6 year-olds, for the Kindergarten Talent Show. It’s the hit of the season! It starts at 8:15 and lasts until 10:00 and then we have classroom share. And the next day is 5th grade graduation!!!!!!!!!!  YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY

  • hehe! Yes – I have a photo of #2 son wearing his “R” shirt. We had to buy t-shirts and decorate them for every letter in the alphabet! I sewed 100 rubberbands onto that shirt as hair for the Rubberband man we made on the front… I got creative when I realized we had to have 26 shirts! So C became G and I turned into H, P morphed to R….I survived! You will too!

  • @ordinarybutloud - I can see how hard it is for you to contain all your EXCITEMENT!

@murisopsis - Whoa. 26 shirts might send me off the deep end. You’re a patient woman!
